Cleft Care Program
Cleft lip & Cleft palate are congenital defects or birth defects which occur very early in pregnancy. A child born with cleft requires several types of services for him to experience a better quality of life. The following services are surgery, dental or orthodontic care, and speech therapy.
Philippine Band of Mercy (PBM) recognizes the importance of these services to the children born with cleft that is why the organization has been providing medical and surgical support in a coordinated manner over a period of years now.
Under PBM's Cleft Care Program, cleft surgeries are offered for free in the Craniofacial Ambulatory Surgical Center for Metro Manila and NCR based patients while regular surgical missions in partnership with local government units and civic organizations are being conducted to reach out to patients residing in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Together with the thirty-one PBM's partner hospitals all over the country and its interdisciplinary cleft team (comprised of professionals from a variety of health care disciplines) this coordinated care program work towards serving the indigent children, helping them to have a better quality of life through total rehabilitation.
